Chamber of wonder

Since its Grand Reopening in 2011, Swarovski Innsbruck has housed its own Chamber of Wonder, modeled after Swarovski Kristallwelten (Swarovski Crystal Worlds).

Ordinary Life

of Shourouk Rhaiem

The Chamber of Wonder at the Swarovski Kristallwelten Store Innsbruck features a brilliant new installation: Swarovski is delighted to present a contemporary still life by the French designer Shourouk Rhaiem. The work centers on everyday items, which the artist has ornamented by hand, using a total of 150 kilograms of Swarovski crystals, in countless colors and forms. Here everyday consumer goods have become artworks, in a gloriously colorful supermarket setting.

The result is reminiscent in style of the colorful pop-art works of the 1960s. In the tradition of Andy Warhol, Shourouk transforms today’s everyday objects into artworks. These sparkling “objets trouvés” (found objects) have been ingeniously arranged to create a scene which is all too familiar to any observer.

Spread over two floors of the store, there are installations of various artists and innovations made out of and using crystal.
