To mark the Year of Maximilian – 2019 is the 500th anniversary of the death of Emperor Maximilian I – Swarovski Crystal Worlds has worked with the Burghauptmannschaft Österreich (the Austrian historic buildings conservation authority) to create a historic masterpiece. Their goal was to produce a copy of the lost bridal jewelry of Bianca Maria Sforza, the second wife of the famous emperor.
From May 25 onwards, this is now on display as part of a special exhibition, “Maximilian I – The Rise of the Modern World,” at theHofburg in Innsbruck.

Also, since April, the art display cases at the Swarovski Kristallwelten Store Innsbruck are featuring two brilliant crystal-covered bust sculptures, of the emperor and his second consort, Bianca Maria Sforza. The sculptures were created by Viennese artist Tibor Bogdan. They symbolize the cooperation and connection between Swarovski Crystal Worlds and Hofburg Innsbruck.
It has been lost for half a century, and now for 2019 – the Year of Maximilian – a team brought together by Swarovski Crystal Worlds has worked to produce a replica of the bridal jewelry of Bianca Maria Sforza, the second wife of the famous Emperor Maximilian I.
After almost 500 hours of work, the meticulously created copy of jewelry set is now on display, from May 25, 2019 onwards, as part of the special exhibition at the Hofburg in Innsbruck: “Maximilian I – The Rise of the Modern World.” After the exhibition, this exquisite set will remain on long-term loan to the Burghauptmannschaft Österreich and will become part of a permanent exhibition.
