Martin Gostner was born in Innsbruck in 1957. He now divides his time between the city and Dusseldorf, where he is a professor at the Academy of Arts.
“Der Kairos aus Georgenthal” [Kairos of Georgenthal] is a rich allusion to Swarovski’s founding story. Daniel Swarovski I, from Bohemian Georgenthal, undoubtedly seized a “fleeting moment” when he made the decision to establish his company in Wattens in 1895. The sculpture in the park is a life-size replica of a massive wardrobe from this time. The wardrobe rests on bronze “planks” that have been laid like a wooden floor. The longitudinal axis of the floor is aligned with Wattens and Georgenthal (or Jiretin pod Bukovou, as it is known today).
