FM RIESEForward Music Festival in Wattens, TirolSave The Date - November 28 - 30, 2013 - this autumn the Forward Music Festival will take place the second time.
Melancholy pop, analog dubstep, and collaborations in the zone between electronic and acoustic music: these exciting musical genres set the tone of this year’s fmRiese, the second annual Forward Music Festival. From November 28 to 30, 2013, Swarovski Kristallwelten (Swarovski Crystal Worlds) in Wattens, Austria, proudly hosts performers Emika, Iva Bittová, Matthew Herbert, Elektro Guzzi featuring Cristian Vogel, Manu Delago’s Manuscripts Ensemble, and Hauschka .
Music of the 21st century
Christof Dienz—musician, composer, and festival curator—positioned last year’s fmRiese in a sound realm that lies between techno, contemporary classical, electro-pop, and experimental rock. In 2013, he takes this concept to the next level in six concerts over three evenings. This year’s line-up includes solo performances by Emika, Iva Bittová, and Hauschka; Elektro Guzzi’s debut collaboration with techno pioneer Cristian Vogel; Manu Delago’s brand new “Manuscripts Ensemble”, and, last but not least, a live electronics quartet from the sound factory of electronics guru Matthew Herbert.
CHRISTOF DIENZ - ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF THE FESTIVAL
As composer and musician, Christof Dienz, a native Austrian born in 1968, moves freely between a variety of connections to new music and other current trends in music. Among his credits, he has been director and composer of the group “Die Knödel” (1992–2000), played bassoon in the theater orchestra of the Vienna State Opera (1997–2000), reveled in music-making with Marc Ribot, Zeena Parkins, Terry Bozzio, DJ DSL, Wolfgang Puschnig, Thomas Larcher and many other artists, and also composed for the Bruckner Orchestra (Linz), Ernst Kovacic, Klangforum (Vienna) and the Tyrol Symphony Orchestra (Innsbruck). Beside the bassoon, several years ago Christof Dienz fell under the spell of the zither, and crafted new performance techniques for the instrument – which one can hear on the multi-award winning CD Dienz zithered, among other albums.
The artistic direction of the fmRiese – Forward Music Festival gives Christof Dienz another opportunity to advance his intellectual exploration of music at a new and different level.
